Membership Benefits
- Secure, web-based data management system to safely store data and generate real-time reports of patient-level data including patient demographics, symptom scores, and discharge information with comparisons to the entire PCQN.
- CaseMaker PCS, an online financial analysis software program that simplifies and streamlines the analysis of financial outcomes of palliative care. CaseMaker PCS calculates financial outcomes including cost savings, net margin and saved bed days and generates editable reports.
- In-person conferences held twice a year that foster a supportive community and create opportunities for members to share expertise and strategies. Each conference includes expert clinical updates, quality improvement education, sharing of best practices, and self-care and sessions on team dynamics—everything a palliative care team needs to be energized, invigorated, motivated, and sustained. Registration fees for four team members is included in membership.
- Quality Improvement Collaborative, where PCQN members work together to identify a gap in care, generate ideas for closing that gap, measure, compare and adjust to improve the quality of care delivered to patients.
- Highly interactive and participatory monthly conference calls for expert-level clinical education.
- Access to the PCQN Web site, which serves as the online community center for members and a repository of PCQN presentations, best practices, resources, and information as well as being the portal for data entry and reporting.
Becoming a PCQN member
- Complete and submit signed Membership Agreement and signed Data Use Agreement (DUA) (PCQN Membership Agreement).
- If your institution requires the use of a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), sign and complete the UCSF BAA (PCQN BAA).
- Complete Palliative Care Service (PCS) Structure Survey (and update annually or as needed).
- Return your invoice with payment (see current year’s membership fees below).
First Steps for New PCQN Members
- Once Membership Agreement and DUA have been processed, your membership becomes active.
- Your Data Contact(s) will receive a PCQN Database login ID and temporary password via email within 2 business days.
- You will be expected to complete your PCS Structure Survey within 30 days of gaining database access.
- You will receive an invoice for your annual participation fee. Payment is due within 30 days of invoice issue date.
Membership Fees
The annual fee for PCQN membership for 2016 is $6,000.00 per hospital. This fee includes all the membership benefits listed above.

*Health system rates require that a Membership Agreement be signed for the system. Payment can be provided by individual sites or the system.
